Across bp, we’re adapting to help keep oil, gas and fuels flowing to customers - adjusting operations, rerouting cargoes and responding to real-time shifts in global markets.
It’s a coordinated effort from production to refining to retail - with bp’s supply, trading & shipping team playing a key role, drawing on deep expertise in balancing supply with the most pressing demand. And it’s possible because of strong integration between bp’s many different teams, along with decades of experience delivering energy.
Adjusting refinery operations
With an eye on the fuels experiencing the most disruption, our refineries in Europe and the US have stepped up efforts to maximize production, including for jet fuel and diesel.
Working with governments
This coordination between our teams has helped keep vital supply flowing to countries, customers and services across the world.
For example, when disruption to fuel supplies hit in Australia, teams across refining, trading and shipping worked together to send an extra 50 million litres of diesel to Sydney from our Cherry Point refinery in the US.
We also partnered with the Australian government to buy additional fuel cargoes and support the country's energy security. To date six cargoes have been secured.
Maintaining services
Alongside these efforts, our airport-based teams in the Middle East have continued to refuel aircraft and support operations in challenging conditions.

Consistent and reliable production
Underpinning our response is bp’s focus on delivering safe and reliable operations while looking to constantly improve performance. This focus has contributed to strong operational performances for upstream plant reliability and refining availability in recent quarters and production levels that have been higher than planned.
In March 2026, North Sea production reached its highest daily performance since 2020, with 227,000 barrels of oil equivalent.
At the Greater Tortue Ahmeyim (GTA) LNG development off the coasts of Mauritania and Senegal, 10 LNG cargoes and one condensate cargo were shipped in the first quarter.
In the US, oil and gas production - onshore and offshore in the Gulf of America – increased nearly 5% last year to more than 800,000 barrels a day.
Together, these efforts are helping keep energy flowing to customers when the global system is under pressure.
