Accessibility

We want everyone to be able to use bp.com. We're checking the site against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG ↗) 2.2 level AA. When that work is done, we'll publish a full accessibility statement setting out what we found, any known issues and how we plan to put them right. Until then, this statement explains our commitment, what we're doing and how to get help.

Our commitment

We're committed to making our digital products and services easier for everyone to use. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 level AA and the requirements of the Equality Act 2010, which asks us to make reasonable adjustments so disabled people can use our services on an equal basis.

What this statement covers

This statement covers bp.com, our corporate website. It's where we share information about our businesses, strategy, sustainability, news and investor content with a global audience.

What we're doing now

  • We've started an audit to see how bp.com measures up against WCAG 2.2 level AA.

  • We build accessibility into how we design, write and test, including acceptance criteria and quality checks.

  • We use both automated and manual testing to find and fix barriers.

  • We test key journeys with screen readers, keyboard navigation and browser accessibility settings.

  • We're building accessibility skills across our team, so it's considered from the start.

  • We're setting up ways to track, prioritize and fix issues as part of how we run the site.

Known limitations

Our audit is still under way, so some content or features on bp.com may not yet meet WCAG 2.2 level AA. We're identifying those gaps and fixing them as part of our accessibility work. We'll list the specific issues in our full statement once the audit is complete.

Tell us what you think

If something on bp.com doesn't work for you, please let us know via email at bpcomenquiries@bp.com
It helps if you tell us which page you were using and what went wrong.

Our next steps

  • Finish our audit and prioritize the improvements it identifies.

  • Make the changes needed to meet WCAG 2.2 Level AA.

  • Keep testing with assistive technology and reviewing key journeys.

  • Check accessibility as part of every site update and release.

  • Publish a full accessibility statement and regular updates on our progress.

Compatibility

We aim to make sure bp.com works with current versions of the main browsers and widely used assistive technology, including screen readers, keyboard navigation and voice input. You should also be able to zoom to 400% and change text spacing, colours and contrast.
