Career summary
Meg O’Neill was appointed chief executive officer on 1 April 2026. Before she joined, she served as CEO of Woodside Energy from April 2021. She joined Woodside Energy in 2018, and previous roles included serving as chief operations officer.
Before then, Meg spent 23 years with ExxonMobil in a variety of technical, operational and senior leadership roles in Houston, New Orleans, Indonesia, Canada and Norway, as well as regional and global leadership positions.
Skills and experience
After 30 years in the energy industry, Meg has a track record of excellence, from her first projects for ExxonMobil, modelling the dynamics of offshore platforms, to driving transformation, growth and disciplined capital allocation across entire businesses.
Meg has bachelor’s degrees in chemical engineering and in ocean engineering and a master’s in ocean systems management from Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the US.
