At bp India, we believe strong communities are essential to a resilient energy future.
Across our businesses and joint ventures in India, we work with trusted partners to deliver programmes that create long term social impact, strengthen livelihoods and support inclusive growth.
Our community initiatives are guided by a clear CSR strategy focused on four priority areas: health, water, truck drivers and education.
Our focus areas
Health
Improving access to primary healthcare and preventive care
We are committed to promoting healthier communities by improving access to essential healthcare services and building awareness around preventive health.
Our health initiatives focus on
Primary healthcare services and specialist teleconsultations.
Access to government health schemes, including medical insurance.
Regular health camps to build awareness on non communicable diseases, vector borne illnesses, contraception and mental wellbeing, particularly among young people in university settings.
To date, these programmes have reached approximately 150,000 people across regions where we operate.
Water
Ensuring access to safe drinking water
Access to clean drinking water remains a critical challenge in many parts of India. Our water programmes focus on addressing water quality issues such as salinity, fluoride and nitrate contamination.
Key elements of our approach include
Setting up Reverse Osmosis (RO) water treatment plants in partnership with local governments.
Training local community members to operate and maintain the facilities, building long term ownership.
Delivering sustainable access to safe drinking water in water stressed regions.
Across five districts in Gujarat – Gir Somnath, Junagadh, Amreli, Porbandar and Anand – our programmes have been implemented in 214 villages, serving approximately 450,000 people.
Wellbeing for truck drivers
Supporting safer roads and healthier livelihoods
Truck drivers play a vital role in India’s economy. Through the Jio bp Cares and Castrol Sarathi Mithra programmes, we work to improve the health, safety and overall wellbeing of truck drivers across the country.
The programme takes a holistic approach, offering
Road safety training.
Financial and digital literacy sessions.
Eye health checks and tele health consultations.
Delivered in collaboration with transport authorities, traffic police and industry associations, the programme operates across 10 states in India and has impacted more than 290,000 truck drivers since 2017.
