Our highest priority is the safe, reliable transportation and delivery of natural gas and petroleum products.
We operate in 14 states and 136 counties in the Midwest and Northwest, with an ownership stake in approximately 1,500 miles of additional pipelines. The natural gas and petroleum products in pipelines are ultimately used by residential, commercial, industrial and storage facility customers.
Every day, our North American pipeline business manages and maintains:
More than 3,200 miles of pipelines
1.1 million barrels of crude oil, natural gas and refined products every day
70 above-ground storage tanks with a combined capacity of about 5.3 million barrels.
Pipeline placement
Most pipelines are underground with markers to indicate approximate locations. These markers display the pipeline operator name, emergency number and the product being transported. Please know that markers do not indicate exact position of the pipeline.

Pipeline maintenance and safety
We maintain a rigorous integrity program of our facilities, including:
24/7 monitoring via staffed control centers
Automated leak detection, motor-operated isolation shut-down valves, and cathodic protection to prevent corrosion
Right-of-way surveillance via inspections,
drones, and ground patrols
We also conduct in-line inspections.
