The US needs more energy — and more of it produced at home. bp is working to help meet that demand, targeting around 1 million barrels of oil equivalent per day (boe/d) from its US operations by 2030.
In 2025, bp produced 812,000 boe/d in the US — more than a third of the company’s global output. The path to around 1 million barrels runs through enhancements to our existing platforms, new developments and continued exploration.
Those barrels are a major part of a broader US footprint that directly employs more than 30,000 people, reaches communities across the country where bp operates, and invests billions of dollars in US businesses and infrastructure each year. As demand for energy grows, bp is working to ensure more of it is produced safely, efficiently and right here in America.
Here’s how.

Producing more from what's already built
In the Gulf, bp is increasing production with tiebacks, which connect new wells to offshore oil and gas platforms that are already producing — a faster, more cost-effective way to bring new supply online without building entirely new facilities.
Two tieback expansion projects completed in 2025 added to US production. One for our Argos platform came online seven months ahead of schedule, while a second is helping extend the life of Atlantis, one of bp's longest-running Gulf platforms.
More is on the way. Another Atlantis expansion project is expected to come online in 2027, and bp recently sanctioned a new subsea pump at our Thunder Horse platform that is expected to add 15,000 boe/d of gross peak production by 2028.
Our US onshore oil and gas business, bpx energy, is helping bp grow the upstream by combining well productivity that leads other US onshore operators, with disciplined capital and cost performance. With a deep, multi-basin inventory across Texas and Louisiana, it is delivering sustained, high-return growth, producing more than 460,000 boe/d in 2025, hitting its mid-decade growth target a year ahead of schedule.

Building America's next wave of energy supply
With an eye toward the future, bp is investing in new projects designed to support US energy supply for decades to come.
In the Gulf, bp has approved two new production hubs — Kaskida and Tiber — in the Paleogene, a deep, oil-rich area beneath the seafloor with around 10 billion barrels of discovered resources. Each is designed to produce about 80,000 barrels of oil per day.
Kaskida is expected to start up in 2029, followed by Tiber in 2030. Tiber will leverage more than 85% of Kaskida’s simplified, standardized and cost-efficient design.
Onshore, bpx plans to invest around $2.5 billion annually through the end of the decade. With more than 15 trillion cubic feet of undeveloped natural gas across the business’s positions in the Haynesville and Eagle Ford basins, it is well-positioned to help meet rising demand for natural gas, including for exports and to help power the country's growing energy needs.

How bp is Investing in America
From coast to coast, bp is investing in America and delivering energy for today and tomorrow. The US is home to our largest workforce in the world, and it's where we spent more than 40% of our global capital investment in 2025.
Exploring for what comes next
Exploration remains part of bp's long-term US strategy. A 2025 discovery at the Far South prospect in the Gulf — where early data supports potentially commercial volumes of oil and gas — is helping build the pipeline of future projects needed to sustain US energy supply over time. bp has also added more than 50 new Gulf blocks in recent lease sales, expanding its acreage for future exploration and development.

What it all means for the US
Together, these projects show bp’s US investment in action – producing more from what is already built, developing new energy supplies and building a project pipeline for the future.
By the end of the decade, bp expects to produce around 1 million barrels of oil equivalent a day in the US, helping strengthen energy security, support American jobs and produce more of the energy Americans use here at home.
That is what investing in America means for bp: producing energy the country needs while helping strengthen the economy that depends on it.
